Grace within Foundation, 36 Days Omer 5783
Today is thirty-six days, which is five weeks and one day of the Omer in the year 5783. חסד שביסוד, Chesed ShebeYesod, Grace within Foundation. Yesod can be described as Foundation or Bonding. Connecting the Flow of the Divine into how we live into each day. Choosing to tie ourselves to ideals beyond the material realm. Today is a day to meditate on our connection to God's Love.
God’s Love Requires Us
The reason Jewish texts emphasize the covenantal aspect of relationship with God is simple. There’s no way to engage with the Ground of Being if you don’t make space for the metaphysical in your life.
So many Jewish conversations revolve around how close to or far away from a particular Jewish culture one identifies. Too often, we accept the idea that participating in a normative, Halakhic approach to Rabbinic Judaism is “religious,” and any other engagement with being Jewish is “secular.” In reality, Jews have never been homogenous. Our spiritual lives have always been unique. Our ethnoreligion recognizes the impossibility of seeing the contours of every person’s heart. The closest thing we have to a declaration of faith declares God’s oneness and then swiftly moves to our obligations because God loves us (i.e. the Shema prayer).
Believe in Us, Believe in Grace
I believe we are spiritual beings living embodied lives.
I believe in our innate goodness and holiness.
I believe the path of Truth, Justice, and Beauty leads to unification and redemption.
I believe every human in every moment has the opportunity for Teshuvah, for Returning to the Path of Truth.
I believe in our collective power to build beloved community.
I believe in our collective capacity to transform the world within and the world around us.
I believe in Grace, in the ever-present, eternal Flow of Love emanating from Goddess / God / Ground of Being.
I believe Grace nourishes our Foundation, enabling us to transform ourselves and the world.
I believe in us.
